Underwater friends – Playte Tiny

Shapes? Colors? Numbers? Each (or all together) can be practiced with the underwater friends.

The children throw the chosen dice, or several dice together, in order to know and choose which “bite” to take.

Includes 3 specially designed large dice children can’t swallow

Ages 18m-4y

The objective

Recognize the shapes and colors and eat accordingly.

Setting up

Place food bites on each of the shapes. Make sure the food does not cover it completely, so the child can see the shape underneath.

How to play?

Roll one dice and choose a bit of food to eat accordingly.

For example – roll the shapes dice, and if the triangle is indicated, for instance, choose a bit placed on one of the triangles drawn on the plate.

Later you can switch dice and when the child has gained some mastery in both colors and shapes, you can combine 2 of the dice (colors / shapes / numbers) for a more challenging game (e.g., blue square, 2 circles).

Parent tip

Depending on which dice you choose to use, try to arrange the food to create choice options. For example, if you’re playing with the color dice, try to ensure that each color has a variety of foods. For instance, the yellow color shouldn’t have the same type of food, but rather a bite of omelet, a bite of toast, and a bite of cucumber. This choice will help empower the child’s sense of control.
